Started with some lovely sunshine. We’ll be out on the sectors to bring the news for you.

Opening ceremony

June 16th, 2010

Local band, cheerleaders, held traffic, speeches and parade – little town of Lesko was witnessing today the opening of the 30th Fly Fishing Championships. Among 28 teams Japanese traditional dresses were most often pictured along with few other exotic teams like Mexico (first time in the Worlds), RSA (instead of watching the World Cup at home came all this way to watch it on TV), Australia and new Zealand (which are far away from being called newbies) The opening ceremony was run by Stanislaw Cios.
Loads of famous competitors are present and so many capable of winning this championship individually!
France, Czechs and Poles are the most obvious candidates for the team’s podium.

We will keep you informed as the story evolves…

Flags of all participants

Pupils from Lesko Forestry school helped with the organisation

Oriental magicians were present as well :-)

Official practice day two

June 16th, 2010

Little drizzle at night didn’t change the fishing  conditions and again the weather is just fine. Competitors are on the river already having the last official practice session. Ceremonies and parties this afternoon.

Official practice

June 15th, 2010

Around 8 o’clock  the competitors left the hotels for an official practice session. Water is low and clear – perfect fishing conditions. Weather is surprisingly good, misty and covered in the morning, later the sun found more and more gaps in the clouds.
Lower part of sector V in Srednia Wies  in the afternoon. Anglers are quite evenly spread around the practice waters.

Sector V practice water in Bachlawa – morning session

Sector III practice water near Lesko bridge.

Sector IV below the ruins in Sobien

Things begin

June 14th, 2010

Teams have moved into the hotels in Polanczyk and first meetings took place. The weather is not on our side – it started raining in the afternoon and few heavy storms passed over our heads. The weather forecast is not optimistic..

Change in sectors!!!

May 23rd, 2010

Due to the recent devastating flood in the southern part of Poland, including the area of the WFFC, the organizers of WFFC 2010 and FIPS-Mouche have made the following decisions:
1. Cancel the sector on the River Solinka, which was the WFFC water most affected by the flood.
2. Create a second sector on Myczkowce Reservoir, called here Myczkowce Lower.

The exact fishing conditions on the new sector are described here.
The organizers of WFFC 2010 and FIPS-Mouche sincerely regret that such an important decision has been made just 4 weeks prior to the WFFC, but in view of the circumstances, beyond the control of man, it is the only one which can guarantee a fair conduct of the Championship. All participants of the Championship are kindly requested to show understanding of the decision.
